Alabama's Sabel Steel names new chief executive

Written by Stephanie Ritenbaugh

Sabel Steel Services has tapped Sean Sabel to lead the company.

The Montgomery, Alabama-based steel firm has nine steel service centers, two scrap yards, a rebar fabrication division and a wholesale center.

Prior to his appointment as president and CEO, in July, Sabel worked in several positions over his 14 years with the company. He has held positions as a scrap metal sorter, outside sales, bandsaw operator, inside sales, branch manager, and, most recently, as Chief Operating Officer, the company said.

Sabel is the sixth generation of the family to run the 168-year-old company. He succeeds his father, Keith Sabel, who was chief executive for 35 years, according to the company.
