Alter and Andersen merger

Written by Stephen Miller

Alter Trading, in St Louis, MO, has purchased the business assets of Andersen Sales and Salvage, in Greeley, CO. Andersen operates four recycling facilities. The company has a shredder at its Greeley location with a top-of-the-line non-ferrous recovery system. They also have facilities in Atwood and Windsor, CO, and one in Cheyenne, WY.

Alter Trading is one of the largest scrap metal processors and traders in the U.S., operating 75 processing facilities including 19 shredders. This will be Alter’s first foray into the western states of Colorado and Wyoming. Alter has facilities in western Nebraska and considers this acquisition as a “bolt on” to their existing scrap metal network.

According to Alter, they have done business with Andersen and have developed a very good rapport and relationship with the company. This led to discussions on areas in which they could work together, and this eventually led to Andersen becoming part of Alter.

The merger gives Alter access to new markets in Colorado. Andersen now has access to capital with which they can continue their growth.
