Gravita begins producing in Togo

Indian lead and aluminium producer Gravita has started commercial production of aluminium cast alloys at a new recycling plant in Togo, West Africa.

“The company has been sourcing scrap from Togo for the last three years and has set up a strong scrap collection network before establishing the plant,” it said in a Bombay Stock Exchange filing.

The cast alloy plant, which has an initial capacity of 4,000 t/y, will cater to industries die casting aluminium components for the automotive and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors in China, Japan, Thailand, South Korea and Vietnam.

Gravita also recycles aluminium in Tanzania, Senegal, Mozambique and home-base India.
